University Of Nebraska Football Preview- 5 Things To Know

Offensive Key To Success

The key to the Cornhuskers offense this season will be developing a run game besides Quarterback Adrian Martinez. Incoming transfer Dedrick Mills will be leaned on heavily to accomplish this after losing Devine Ozigbo. The offense will go as Martinez goes but any hits they can take away from him the better.

Defensive Key To Success

Nebraska really figured it out the second half of the season. The defense is going to have to improve in the running game in order for the team to take the next step. They transitioned into a 3-4 defense last season and should be better equipped this season. The back end of the defense is solid and if the front seven can stop the run a little bit better, the West could be theirs.

Biggest Game Of The Season

The biggest game of the season is going to be September 27th against the Ohio State Buckeyes. This game will determine how seriously we should take the Cornhuskers this season. Can they still win the West while losing this game? Yes, but it will be a lot harder to make the Big Ten Championship in a super competitive West Division.

Breakout Player

Breakout player to watch for this season is Junior JD Spielman Jr. He will be the leading receiver this year and boasts the most experience. The rest of the offense is young and were not quite sure what they are. Spielman could play himself into the NFL draft if everything goes well.

Prediction Time

I have Nebraska going 9-3 this season and contending for a division title. They have one of the easier crossover conference schedules but there is just too much parity in a division that anybody can beat anyone.
