Well, the time has come and we can finally have Opening Day here in Detroit. It’s been a long wait but we do now have baseball for the rest of the summer. The Detroit Tigers will start the season with a road series against the NL Central Cincinnati Reds. The Reds have postseason aspirations while the Tigers are in the middle of a rebuild and are more concerned with development. For tonight’s game we will have Matthew Boyd facing off against Sonny Gray as both teams look to start the season 1-0.
The Starting Lineups are as follows for both teams:
I look for a high scoring game with the game taking place in Cincinnati and the hitters are probably more ahead at this point of the season. Jonathan Schoop has faced Sonny Gray before and could be the difference in this game. Another headline is that former Tiger Nick Castellanos is in the line-up to face the Tigers for the first time as a Cincinnati Red. Cincinnati holds the bullpen advantage as that is the weak point for this Tigers team.
